You should be hyped that Creeper’s debut album is coming soon

One month to go, guys.

If there’s one name you can’t avoid right now, it’s Creeper. Dubbed “the next My Chem”, “the next AFI,” heck, even “the next Misfits,” the Southampton goth-punks are set to explode when debut album ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’ drops. As one of the most invigorating new bands the UK punk scene has produced in what feels like forever, they live up to the hype: from their merch and social media to their ghost walks around Southampton, this is a band unafraid to do things on their terms.

If you aren’t excited already (and come on, you should be), here are a few reasons to be buzzed for ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’.

The singles sound MASSIVE

So far we’ve heard two tracks from ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’: ‘Suzanne’ and ‘Hiding With Boys’. Both songs are easily among the best Creeper have ever released; ‘Suzanne’ is all Bowie-meets-Misfits glam-punk escapism, but it’s ‘Hiding With Boys’ that’s really exciting. On this latest single, Creeper appear to have achieved impossible: a dark, brooding goth anthem that wouldn’t sound out of place on the sunniest of days at The Warped Tour. Equal parts emo and uplifting, these songs promise much.

The mystery of James Scythe

Where is James Scythe? What is The Stranger? Who are mysterious Callous Heart gang? What do Suzanne and Madeline have to do with all this? The story Creeper have created as the backdrop to ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’ is fascinating, and it’s this level of artistic ingenuity that sees them compared to the likes of My Chemical Romance. If you want to find out more about the disappearance of paranormal investigator James Scythe and work out how it all ties in with Creeper’s music, head over to whereisjamesscythe.co.uk.

Hannah Greenwood is going to sing more

Most bands have one decent vocalist, but Creeper aren’t most bands: they have two brilliant singers. Will Gould might be the focal point, but Hannah Greenwood’s work on back-up vocals and keys adds a whole new dimension to Creeper’s songs. When a fan recently suggested to the band on Twitter that Hannah should sing more, Creeper replied: “We suggest listening to ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’.”

They’re going on an epic tour

OK, so Creeper are embarking on a headline tour in support of their debut record. So far, so what? Right? Wrong! This isn’t your average tour, with three incredible support bands ready to stake their claim to be the most rousing act on the bill. There’s the genre-bending Puppy, US punks and Creeper influencers Energy (playing in the UK for the first time) and the equally exciting Milk Teeth. Buy. Your. Tickets. Now.

Creeper’s debut album ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’ is out 24th March.
