Danny L. Harle suffers the sundown slot at Reading 2016

Bangers can’t save everything.

A DJ set in broad daylight is admittedly a tough gig, especially when your line-up slot puts you at the prime time when everyone’s heading for a well earned dinner after a hard day festival-ing. But Danny L. Harle gives it a fair go.

The mixes are slick, Danny himself putting a lot into the set, but it seems the curse of scheduling has befallen him. No matter how brill ‘Super Natural’ ft Carly Rae Jepsen sounds in a tent with the glorious British sun peeking in, the space around the dancing cluster in the centre offsets everything. The issue is that no matter how big the tune or enthusiastic the guy behind the decks, it’s hard to work a crowd that’s barely there.

Knock it back a few hours, remove the dinner distractions, get the daylight out and stage lighting on, and this has the potential to be something huge.
