A severe storm at Rock am Ring has left more than 50 attendees injured, eight seriously, with the festival suspended, according to reports.
With more severe weather predicted, the German event posted the following statement: “Because of inclement weather we fear further lightning with the potential risk of injuries. Due to instructions of the Mendig authorities we were ordered to suspend the festival for the moment being. Please stay in your tents or for your own protection go to your cars. We will inform you hourly of any new development.”
Rock am Ring is set to run until tomorrow, June 5th, and plays hosts to the likes of Foals, The 1975, Panic! At The Disco and Bring Me The Horizon.
Lightning struck the festival grounds, an old airfield, on Friday night. This isn’t the first time Rock am Ring has suffered from the elements, with over 30 fans injured when lightning struck in 2015.
