Newcastle band A Festival, A Parade are soon to release their first single of the year – check out ‘People Person’ below, first on Dork.
Following on from previous single ‘If Dogs Could Talk’ last autumn, it’s a poignant track that tackles the stigma surrounding mental health.
“Typically, we like our songs to be fairly ambiguous, as a lot of our main influences’ writing styles are very enigmatic and open to interpretation and that’s something which really makes us tick,” frontman Joe Allan explains.
“However, I think ‘People Person’ is a very honest track. It’s basically about someone who is struggling with mental illness, but feels they must maintain this ‘people person’ persona, being overtly friendly and outgoing, which, in my opinion, is one of the most destructive things you can do when you’re not feeling 100%.
“The take-home message from the song (if there is one) would be to just make sure you make time for people who might need someone to talk to, and that even people who appear be leading an idyllic lifestyle may be struggling behind closed doors.”
‘People Person’ was recorded, mixed and mastered by Chris McManus at Blank Studiosis, and is out later this week, on Friday 27th January.
