Alanna and Owen from Joanna Gruesome have released a new track with their new band, Ex-Vöid

It’s about a rubbo relationship.

Ex-Vöid, the new band from Alanna McArdle and Owen Williams formerly of Joanna Gruesome, have released a new tune.

‘Boyfriend’ is about a rubbish relationship, and it’s taken from their upcoming three-track EP coming out on 11th May via Don Giovanni Records.

“This was a song I wrote about the psychic pain of rejection within a relationship, slowly learning that someone finds you deeply intolerable and lapsing into self denial, claiming you ‘don’t even want a boyfriend anyway’,” Owen tells Fader, who premiered the track.

“Of course this isn’t about me! I’m simply imagining what being rejected might feel like. It’s kind of a companion song to one I wrote called ‘My Baby is a Communist,’ which has been vetoed from release by the group.”
