Almost everyone up for the Mercury Prize will play at the ceremony

Guess who’s the odd one out?

The winner of this year’s Mercury Prize will be announced in less than three weeks, and today organisers have confirmed the acts who’ll be playing at the ceremony on the 14th of September.

First, a bit of a recap. Who’s nominated for the prize this year? That’ll be The Big Moon, The xx, alt-j, Glass Animals, Sampha, Loyle Carner, Blossoms, J Hus, Ed Sheeran, Kate Tempest, Stormzy, and Dinosaur. So, who’s playing? Well, almost all of the acts up for the prize are performing at the ceremony. We can expect sets from The Big Moon, Stormzy, alt-j, Glass Animals, The xx, Sampha, Loyle Carner, Blossoms, Kate Tempest, J Hus, and Dinosaur.

Who’s the odd one out here, then? It’s Ed Sheeran, naturally. What’s the deal with that, Ed?
