alt-J announce new album ‘Relaxer’, stream brand new track, ‘3WW’

‘3WW’ features vocals from Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell, and comes ahead of an O2 date this June.

alt-J have followed up last week’s Friday tea time teaser with the full version of ‘3WW’, the first track from their third album ‘Relaxer’.

The five-minute on the dot cut is the initial teaser for the follow up to 2014’s ‘This Is All Yours’, and comes ahead of a summer spent high up the bills at a whole load of festivals.

“We’d like to thank you for your patience over the last year or so,” the band explain over on Facebook. “After finishing touring ‘This Is All Yours’ in December 2015 we took a long break. Thom released a solo album; Gus opened a restaurant; Joe has been watching a lot of films. We hadn’t set a time limit on our time off but by August 2016 we were ready to get back into the studio. The result is our third album, ‘Relaxer’, and we are really excited for you to hear it.”

alt-J are also set to headline London’s O2 on Friday 16th June as part of the venue’s 10th birthday run of shows, which is all quite exciting, right? Tickets for that are on sale this Friday (10th March) at 9am.

“The O2 is a huge, cool venue and we are excited to be helping to mark its tenth birthday,” reads a statement from the band. “It was a very special night the first time we played there, and we’re looking forward to going back for seconds. This is one of the first shows where we’ll be playing new songs from our forthcoming album, and we can’t wait to get back on stage again.”

A typically textured affair, you can check out ‘3WW’ (which stands for ‘3 Worn Words’) below ahead of ‘Relaxer’’s June 9th release date. And yep, those are vocals from Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell. Find the tracklisting for the album beneath the player below.
