After releasing one of the most important albums of 2016, ANOHNI is set to continue that rich form with a new EP titled ‘Paradise’
The six track EP continues the collaborative relationship with Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never that first stemmed together in latest album ‘Hopelessness’, and is packed full of heavy-hitting lyrical portraits of the perils and downfalls of society today.
Speaking in a statement released alongside the EP’s title track, ANOHNI examines and outlines the dangers being witnessed, explaining “as Donald Trump and his cabinet now demonstrate, the skills encouraged in men by their biologies and the tools that boys master in the playground have not equipped them to deal with the unprecedented global crisis we are now facing.”
“Mothers, your sons are trapped in a nightmare; they are not capable of responsibly negotiating the destructive agency that they now wield. Only an intervention by women around the world, with their innate knowledge of interdependency, deep listening, empathy and self-sacrifice, could possibly alter our species’ desperate course.”
The ‘Paradise’ EP is set for release on March 17th – and it’s clear that it’s going to be an essential listen. Until then, check out the title track below,
