Anthony Gonzalez of M83 is composing a Cirque Du Soleil show

Because what else do you do after touring the globe with a sack full of bangers

In a side-project that would dwarf most peoples entire careers, M83’s Anthony Gonzalez has announced that he’s composing and musically directing a new Cirque du Soleil show.

Titled VOLTA, the show is described as a story about freedom of choice and is “inspired in part by the adventurous spirit that fuels the culture of action sports”. So expect dancers flying all over the shop in pretty show-stopping style.

Talking about the project, Anthony said:

“When Jean (Director Of Creation at Cirque du Soleil) and Bastien (VOLTA’s director and writer) first approached me, I was immediately excited about the idea of working with Cirque du Soleil. Not just because they are a company known throughout the world, but also because I was deeply attracted by the story of VOLTA, and the spirit that underpins the show. The story of VOLTA is ours. It is a tale of a generation who is calling for change and I was very keen to contribute to telling this story. I’m deeply honored to be part of the Cirque team and it’s a wonderful new challenge in unknown territory for me. Ultimately, it’s challenges like this that I find so inspiring and drive me to make the music that I do.”

Not too shabby for a guy who released his festival-filling latest LP ‘Junk’ earlier in the year and proceeded to take the M83 show around the globe over the past few months (including a celebratory evening at London’s Brixton Academy at the end of November).

Tickets for VOLTA are on sale right now, with a little teaser in the below trailer,
