Following the slight surprise that Arctic Monkeys aren’t headlining Reading & Leeds this year, it looks like it may be because they have other plans…
An application has been submitted by SJM Concerts to Sheffield City Council to stage “up to a maximum of four dates” of live music at Hillsborough Park in September.
Rumour has it, it’ll be for some big old ’Monkeys homecoming shows to celebrate the release of their as-yet-unannounced new album; the follow up to 2013’s ‘AM’.
The band are already confirmed to play Primavera, Firefly, Best Kept Secret, Southside, Hurricane, Open’er, Rockwave, Rock Werchter, Nos Alive, Mad Cool, Oya, Way Out West, Flow, and Sziget this summer.
And TRNSMT too, their one and only confirmed UK billing, which they’ll play alongside The Killers, Chvrches, Liam Gallagher, Interpol, Declan McKenna, Wolf Alice, Blossoms, Franz Ferdinand and more in Glasgow this summer.
Licence application for huge “live music” event in Hillsborough Park for 3-4 nights during September. Mmm, wonder which band that might be? ? #Sheffield pic.twitter.com/n9jmk8DHqe
