Everyone ever was hacked on Twitter over the weekend. Or at least, virtually everyone.
From Bon Iver to Tame Impala, through to Twenty One Pilot’s Tyler Joseph and Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes, musicians’ accounts were compromised, some simply tweeting our requests for follows, others posting some seriously shady stuff including bomb threats and racial slurs.
Tenacious D’s twitter posted out claims Jack Black had died – which, as the band had recently played Germany’s Rock am Ring where lightning storms had left festival goers hospitalised earlier in the weekend – caused confusion amongst fans. Elsewhere, Tame Impala’s account was used to tweet threats of bombs on airplanes, while Bon Iver’s twitter account was renamed to @ihavelegcancer and tweeted unsavoury comments about the death of Muhammad Ali.
Some people are just lovely, aren’t they?
They’re just some of a number of hacks over recent days, with others including Katy Perry and Mark Zuckerberg also compromised. You’d think the latter would have a better password than ‘dadada’.
