Bastille dropped a brand new track into their set at Snowbombing last night (7th April).
Titled ‘The Currents’, frontman Dan Smith described the song as “a bit weird” before performing it for the first time. It’s both very Bastille and not especially Bastille at the same time, with a big old tempo change into the chorus.
Thanks to the wonders of mobile telephones, you can watch footage of the full thing ‘below’. It’s even a half decent recording too. Wonders will never cease.
Bastille are set to release their second album at some point this year. Back in February they released a short video talking about “difficult second albums”, revealing the follow up to their wildly successful debut has been “written and recorded on tour buses, in backstage rooms and hotels all over the place.”
“The process of writing and making the songs hasn’t changed much,” Dan explained, “it’s just that this time around, we’re doing way less of it in my bedroom.”
But Dan. Your bedroom? Is that not where the magic happens?
Very sorry everyone.
