Bastille have recorded a cover of Green Day’s iconic track ‘Basket Case’.
The new version – which features strings and brass – has been recorded for Amazon Prime’s new TV show The Tick, and sees the band giving the pop punk classic a Really Very Bastille makeover.
“We’re massive Green Day fans,” explains Dan Smith, “and so tried to make a version of “Basket Case” that was totally different to the original whilst still honouring what an awesome tune it is.”
“We had a lot of fun reinterpreting it with loads of strings and brass, inspired by countless film scores and “Eleanor Rigby”. To be able to work on something that combines superheroes, orchestras and Green Day was an absolute pleasure.”
Bastille are set to play Reading & Leeds this August bank holiday weekend. You can find more from them in the new issue of Dork, out now.
