Yesterday, Bastille dropped a brand new track. Titled ‘World Gone Mad’, it’s part of the soundtrack to a new Netflix film ‘Bright’.
Clearly this kind of stuff is right up Dan Smith’s street – he’s got a long standing love of the cinematic arts. That means he was more than happy to pop in to have a natter with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe about the track.
While there, he also let slip some snippets about two forthcoming Bastille projects.
First up – ‘Other People’s Heartache’ Part IV is coming. Bastille’s weird, wonderful mixtape series got its most recent incarnation in the gap between the band’s first and second albums, and featured team ups with the likes of Haim and Lizzo.
This time round, it’s “a real mix of collaborations”, and is in it’s finishing stages, which is quite exciting.
Even more poppers o’clock is the talk of album 3. A year on from ‘Wild World’, Dan claims the record will be about “trying to have a fun time with your friends”, while still acknowledging the challenging environment we live in. “Sometimes it’s necessary for your sanity to hone in on the things that you love and the people you enjoy hanging out with,” he added.
It’s set to be “much more intimate” and “probably slightly more inward looking and fun”. So that’s nice.
