Beat-war? James Blake has had enough of Hudson Mohawke

“Thank god we’ve never worked together,” comes after rumours of a potential collaboration.

Seems like Hudson Mohawke’s game of Tease The Collab has hit a particular note with James Blake, responding with a strongly worded statement after Mohawke claimed there was a collaboration sitting on his computer.

Last week Mohawke seemingly confirmed the existence of demos that he worked on with both Frank Ocean and James Blake, which left Blake to respond saying:

“As talented as I think he is, I’ve never worked with Hudson Mohawke and don’t know what he’s talking about. I’m respectfully baffled.”

HudMo couldn’t let that lie, and after attempting to prove the existence of the beat, Blake finally came back all guns blazing.

Saying he did listen to some HudMo beats but “politely declined”, he goes on to say:

“Two years later, you’re alluding to the idea we’ve collaborated to the point where you have something you can leak…? Leak what you have—you’d just be leaking one of your own beats with no vocals or input from me. Thank god we’ve never worked together because I wouldn’t be able to trust you with my music. Going forward, if you continue to threaten to leak music or even suggest your ability to do so, soon no one else will trust you with their music either.”

Ouch. Now Blake has dealt with that he can shift focus to his upcoming UK tour, which includes two sold-out nights in London in support of latest LP ‘The Colour In Anything’.
