After a day of teasing, Beck has debuted his brand new track ‘Wow’.
Over the past 24 hours, fans have been piecing together snippets posted to Instagram to make a full track, but you can put your virtually sticky tape away now – the full thing is here.
The track follows last year’s mega-banger ‘Dreams’. Talking to Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Beck confirmed he’s been working on a body of songs for a few years that have a more immediate vibe – starting work on it a year before ‘Morning Phase’ came out.
“I think it could have come out two years ago and been fine,” Beck explained, revealing he’s been pushing things to make sure the new record was as good as it could be, rather than rush something out sooner.
Beck also revealed ‘Wow’ wasn’t originally going to be on the record, before his kids convinced him to send it to his label. Now he has tracks for another half an album again on top of his new record ready to go.

We’re still waiting for firm details on what Beck‘s new album is called, and when it’ll be out – but it sounds like we’ll be getting them Very Soon Indeed. According to the interview with Zane, it’ll be ‘done’ on Friday, when he needs to head out on tour – including playing Glastonbury later this month and FOLD Festival in London between the 24th-26th June.
Update: Beck’s as-yet-untitled new album will be released on October 21st, according to IHeartRadio.
