Black Foxxes have just released their debut album, ‘I’m Not Well’ – and this weekend, the Exeter group are bringing the record to Reading & Leeds.
“Can’t wait,” says frontman Mark Holley. “We opened up the Pit stage last year and joked about playing the NME tent next year. We should probably stop joking about things because everything just keeps happening.
“Actually maybe we should joke right now about a Biffy Clyro tour in 2017? Can the guys upstairs make that happen? Cheers ‘en.”
Being fairly local (at least compared to Leeds), the lads have been to Reading both as a band, and as fans. “When I went as a kid some friends and I had a giant manned catapult,” he continues.
“We managed to fire a glow in the dark water balloon across two fields to hit a burger vender through the van window. 10/10, would catapult again.”
The band play Reading later today (Sunday 28th August) on the NME / BBC Radio 1 Stage, alongside Basement, Spring King, Deaf Havana, Tonight Alive, Rat Boy, Savages, The 1975 and more.
“Frank Carter is always fun,” says Mark, of other bands they’re keen to see. “Not sure about it being on the Main Stage, but it’s amazing for the band! Basement are playing directly after us on the Sunday so that’s going to be really special. THRICE!!”
And do they have anything special planned for their set? “Hah, not really? We don’t tend to go too over the top with things because we’re just three guys that practice in a scout hut at the end of the day, and we want that raw honesty to come across. I think this might be the first ever show that we have lights, so that’ll be cool. I might have a beer? That’s probably about it.”
