Why spend your life waiting when you can just keep going and going? That must be the thinking with bonafide favourites Blaenavon, who’ve revealed a stunning new track ‘No One Else In Mind’.
Coming just under a month since the release of the trio’s debut album ‘That’s Your Lot’, the track finds Ben Gregory stripping things back as a duet with acclaimed French musician Soko – delivering those haunting chills with a moment of vulnerable honesty.
Speaking to Les In Rocks about the track, Ben explained how it was recorded at the end of last year while they were in Paris and some more around the track.
“Soko and I were introduced by a friend in common who is also a superb photographer, Olivia Bee. I had never written with anyone before, because for me it is such an introspective and immersive process. And yet, we hung really naturally and within a few hours the song was over. This is something I would like to do again.”
“The track is about having eyes only for a person, knowing that it might not work. A resignation to a failure. A slow acceptance.”
After bursting across every spectrum and flourish with ‘That’s Your Lot’, which we talked about in detail for April’s magazine cover story, Blaenavon are set for a busy summer of festival appearances and dates around the globe – kicking off with a very special headline show in the actual town of Blaenavon next Wednesday (May 10th). Joined by the Blaenavon Male Voice Choir, expect it to be a special one (especially if it’s anything like their recent Heaven headline show).
