The problem with winter is that it gets pretty dark, pretty quickly – and that’s certainly reflected in the mood of everyone around you (particularly in 2016). Solemn faces certainly reign supreme, especially after a long day typing away at a computer which is rounded off by a packed bus full of sweaty and angry bodies – so anything that can take us away from that is a welcome sight in our eyes.
Enter frame Archivist, a band stepping out into the world with refreshing panoramic sounds that could soundtrack a movie in a blink of a heartbeat. The foursome have spent their time dipping across the musical world, between them playing with the likes of Blur, Ghostpoet, Friendly Fires, Bat For Lashes, Questlove and more over the past few years. So lets just say, they’re bloody good at what they do.
After releasing their debut EP earlier in the year, their sights are now set on new EP ‘Memo’ – set to land before 2016 is out and lead by the single ‘Same High’ (which we’re debuting right here on Dork first). Layered across lush euphoric blankets of sound that’s pulled together by simmering synths, ‘Same High’ is the sort of reflective hot-water bottle we need right now.
Serened by a falsetto that would make Everything Everything sound like a pub band, ‘Same High’ is a blissful pick-me-up full of enough charm to make a winter day seem a whole lot better in the drop of a beat. We need a bit of magic in the world, so thank christ Archivist are pulling spells.
Kick back and look into the horizon, ‘Same High’ is below,
