It seems like we’ve been teased it for a while now, but Charli XCX has revealed more about her upcoming third album – describing it as “a big pop party album”.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Charli delved into the hotly anticipated release, revealing that PC Music titan Sophie has been pretty involved in its creation and more details on what to expect when it lands at some-point around May.
Explaining her inspiration for the big and bold pop banger-ville to come, Charli explained:
“On my previous record, I was really annoyed at the music industry and felt like I had something to prove. After that, I didn’t feel I had anything to prove anymore. Also one of my favourite hobbies is partying, and I realised that I never actually made a party album. I never made an album that I would want to hear at a club. It was very indulgent in that sense because I just wanted to make an album that I could get fucked up to. It’s the soundtrack to my nights”
Teasing that “there might be a special feature” on the record, Charli’s also let slip that there’s a blooming mixtape in the pipeline too, set to feature a range of collaborations and primed to arrive BEFORE the album.
If the next few months are anything as big-time as the already released ‘After The Afterparty’ – then expect Charli XCX to slay the summer. As if that was ever in doubt…
