There’s a lot about Later… with Jools Holland which is Really Quite Boring.
Like someone’s dad trying to play you some ‘real music’ when all you want to do is stick on Little Mix and gorge on sonic sherbet, against all expectations sometimes something genuinely brilliant might break out.
Christine and the Queens’ debut performance last night (26th April) was packed with practically perfect French pop, but to suggest that’s the main reason everyone who watched is now raving about Héloïse Letissier (real names, guys – this is a serious music publication – Ed) would be a bit of a fib. It’s the dancing.
Who turns up to Later… with a dance troupe? Who pulls the moves while singing on a show where the sound has been known to be more than slightly erratic in the past? Who actually pulls it off?
Rhetorical questions, obviously. Watch the whole thing below.
If you’re after more Christine and the Queens goodness – and let’s face it, you almost certainly are – you can find full-length ‘Chaleur Humaine’ on Spotify here.
There’s also a sold out show at London’s Roundhouse next week (3rd May), and a slot at this summer’s Latitude Festival on the books. Isn’t that nice? [sc name=”stopper” ]
