Dave Grohl says you’re not going to guess Foo Fighters’ pop star album guest, sorry

It’s going to be someone old and boring, isn’t it.

Back when they announced their new album, Foo Fighters teased a mysterious “biggest pop star in the world” guest spot.

Now frontman Dave Grohl has dropped a few more clues – but he doesn’t think you’ll ever guess who it is.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Grohl says: “It was sort of towards the end of the album and this person came up and said, ‘Man, I’d really love to sing on your record’… So we found a backup part for this person to sing and we decided we were gonna make it our own dirty little secret and see if anyone can figure it out.”

“I’d be amazed if anyone can really figure it out,” he continues. “But it was great and this person’s been around a long time. And [he or she is] very talented – more so than I ever knew. But, of course, I fucking ran my mouth off; now I have to answer to it every time I pick up the telephone and I’m like, ‘Fuck! I shouldn’t have said anything.'”

The band’s new album, ‘Concrete and Gold’ is due for release on 15th September. They’ll play the O2 in London not long after, with a show on 19th September as part of the venue’s 10th birthday celebrations.
