Elbow were previously touted as contenders for the Christmas Number 1 single, but their odds have taken a slide.
The band were briefly leading the betting odds due to their soundtracking the John Lewis Christmas advert with a cover of Beatles track ‘Golden Slumbers’.
Now however, they’ve tumbled down to 16/1, beaten by new favourites Wham, Ed Sheeran, BTS, the X Factor winner, Mariah Carey, Tenors Unlimited, James Arthur, Linkin Park and quite a few more.
“George Michael is the obvious choice for the Xmas one, should his fans get behind the campaign,” says William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams, “but there is some very shrewd money coming in for both Big Shaq and Kim Wilde.”
