Not content with giving us three new songs, accompanying videos, a short film and an essay, Father John Misty has released yet another track from forthcoming album ‘Pure Comedy’.
Debuting it live on Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6 Music show, ‘Leaving LA is a belting thirteen-minute track. Described by the man himself to Laverne as being “the whitest, most acoustic thing you’ve ever seen”, it contains what we love most about Misty; his wicked sense of humour – calling out “L.A. phonies and their Pitchfork bands that sound like dollar signs and Amy Grant” amongst other things.
‘Leaving LA’ joins the album’s title track, ‘Two Wildly Different Perspectives’ and ‘Ballad Of A Dying Man’ as choice cuts from Father John’s incoming new album ‘Pure Comedy’, set for release on April 7th and already shaping up to be one of the most important albums of the year.
Listen to ‘Leaving LA’ below. Yes. All of it.
