Father John Misty says another thing, everyone writes about it

FJM may be against the corporate dollar, but we’ll sing whatever you like for a quarter of a mil.

It’s almost too easy for Father John Misty. He says something, and everyone types it up and publishes it like it’s breaking news. We’re mugs. He’s the pied piper of laptop ferrets. We even know what’s happening, and still we do it. You’re reading it too. What’s wrong with us?

This time, the incredible always moving mouth of Misty has been sniping at corporate payouts. At Newport Folk Festival over the weekend, he revealed that Chipotle offered him $250,000 to cover The Backstreet Boys’ ‘I Want It That Way’ for a commercial.

“I was like, ‘Cool, so then I can just buy like two Cadillacs and just crash them together. I don’t want your fucking burrito money,” he exclaimed.

Obviously, he’s being a bit of a gobby bugger – probably knowing full well that Alabama Shakes were headlining the day after, and frontwoman Brittany Howard of the band teamed up with My Morning Jacket’s Jim James to do a cover of… yeah, you got it. For Chipotle.

To be clear – Chipotle – if you want us to sing any BSB track for a quarter of a mil, we’re absolutely in.

“The underclass in this country is going to produce a real folk hero that’s going to inspire a real revolution,” Misty continued. “And all of us are gonna have to die.”
