Father John Misty’s return seems so incredibly timed – arriving just when we need him and perfectly mirroring the fears and actions we see in front of us, and he’s done it again with latest number ‘Two Wildly Different Perspectives’.
Engulfed in dazzling strings and a sombre piano line, ‘Two Wildly Different Perspectives’ perfectly illustrates the nature of division in 2017 – in all its futility and dangers and written in that straight-to-the-bone manner which makes Father John Misty so essential. It’s something that hits especially with the video accompanying the release, featuring kids from around the world playing with guns and acting out their own idea of conflict.
In unveiling the clip, Father John Misty commented that “more kids are going to die now thanks to the unbelievably selfish immigration policy of places like Saudi Arabia and the USA.”
The track is the second slice of new music taken from Father John’s recently announced third studio album ‘Pure Comedy’, announced with the six minute title track, its video, a detailed essay and short film examining what’s to come. The follow-up to ‘I Love You, Honeybear’ is out on April 7th.
