Frankie & The Heartstrings take on Northern Soul classics for Record Store Day

the double A-side features versions of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’ ‘The Night’ and Frank Wilson’s ‘Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)’

Frankie & The Heartstrings are set to release a special Record Store Day single featuring their takes on two Northern Soul classics.

Released on April 16th, the double A-side features versions of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’ ‘The Night’ and Frank Wilson’s ‘Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)’, and will be available digitally as well as on a limited edition 7” only available through the band’s Sunderland based Pop Recs store.

Guitarist and vocalist Ross Millard says: “The Night is a great, enigmatic Northern Soul classic with an excellent bassline and the song fits (F&THs lead vocalist) Frankie’s vocal range really well. We’d discussed recording a few covers for a while and I thought The Night would sit with the music we’d recorded for the last album ‘Decency’ really nicely, but also allow us to get the Vegas show-suits back on for some more soulful razzle dazzle.”

“I regularly DJ,” adds frontman Frankie Francis on ‘Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)’, “and there aren’t many tracks you can play and immediately know beforehand that everyone in the room will move to it, but this certainly is one. At the same time though, not many people will know the title of this song or who sang it. And that’s the power songs like Do I Love You has, it doesn’t matter what genre you champion, or what usually makes you dance, tracks like this are timeless moments of joy.”
