Clear the way, Dear Reader! GIRLI’s dropping a turbo banger on your Friday.
‘Hot Mess’ got a first spin on Huw Stephens’ BBC Radio 1 show earlier this week, and is now streaming online.
A typically (and brilliantly) assertive slice of in yer face attitude, it’s a defiant stand against judgemental dickheads, packing hook lines that will stick around for keeps.
“Hot Mess is about all the times I’ve been talked down to, patronised, told that i should change my songs, my look, my presentation… just because I’m a woman making music and not a guy,” explains GIRLI. “Women are allowed to be loud, to speak their mind, to wear what they want and not be shamed for it, to be taken seriously whatever makeup they have on their faces or however much of their cleavage is showing. This song is my way of saying that!”
It heads up GIRLI’s new ‘Hot Mess EP’, which is set to drop next month on 26th September. You can check out ‘Hot Mess’, and the rest of the EP’s tracklist, below.
