Glass Animals are now the favourites to win the Mercury Prize 2017

Wahey!

The odds of Glass Animals winning this year’s Mercury Prize have shorted a bunch in the run up to tonight’s ceremony.

The band are up for the award with their recent album ‘How To Be A Human Being’, and this morning had odds of 3/1 putting them in second place behind Kate Tempest.

Well, now they’ve shorted some more – the band are currently favourites to win at 11/4.

“In the past we have seen last minutre gambles like this land with PJ Harvey in 2011 and Skepta last year both very heavily backed with just hours to go before the announcement,” says William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “However, gambles on Paul Weller in 2010 and Ghostpoet in 2015 proved fruitless.”

The full list of odds are: 11/4 Glass Animals; 7/2 Kate Tempest; 7/2 Sampha; 11/2 J-Hus; 13/2 Loyle Carner; 7/1 Stormzy; 20/1 Alt-j; 20/1 Dinosaur; 20/1 The xx; 25/1 The Big Moon; 33/1 Blossoms; 33/1 Ed Sheeran.
