Glastonbury isn’t moving sites

But there will be a one off festival elsewhere in 2018.

Glastonbury isn’t moving anywhere, according to Emily Eavis.

Rumours, mostly traced back to comments from Eavis’ father Michael, had suggested the event may be changing site, with the original site struggling with concerns over the safety of a gas pipe.

An interview with Loaded reported Michael Eavis had confirmed a one-off festival “20 miles up the road”, but speaking to the BBC, Emily explained: “The main thing to set straight is that Glastonbury Festival itself will always be at Worthy Farm.”

She did, however, confirm there will be a one-off event in Glastonbury’s next fallow year – set for 2018. “It’s going to be the whole team behind the Glastonbury Festival but it’s not going to be called Glastonbury,” she said.

Eavis then confirmed the news on Twitter, writing:

TL;DR? Glastonbury isn’t moving, but they’re going to put on a different festival somewhere else in 2018 (or 2019), when there’s no Glastonbury due to ‘farm stuff’. Hope this helps. [sc name=”stopper” ]
