Grandaddy founding member and bassist Kevin Garcia has sadly passed away after a massive stroke.
Having been with the band since 1992, including their split in 2006 and eventual reformation in 2012, Kevin contributed to all five of their albums, as well as this years ‘Last Place’.
Releasing a statement on social media today (May 3rd), which you can read in full below, the band said, “There are no accurate words to express what we need to. We are absolutely shattered to say that we lost our friend and bandmate Kevin Garcia early this afternoon. He succumbed to the effects of a massive stroke.”
The statement ends, “We’ll have more to say in the days ahead. Right now the four of us are grieving together. With great sadness and love, Grandaddy.”
