You know the guys belting out ‘Livin On A Prayer’ in the pub around the corner? Well if you thought they were a good covers band, then think again – because according to Kevin Parker, Tame Impala are exactly that.
Speaking to the NZ Herald, the frontman, producer and overall guy behind it all explained how he views Tame Impala in two different incarnations, the studio version and the live version.
“It’s largely a misconception that Tame Impala is a band, We play as a band on stage but it’s really not how it is at all on the album. The album is just me”
Explaining the band’s “two lives”, Kevvy P explained, “One is the album, which is like a producer, and the other life is like a band. More of a live incarnation where we’re basically a covers band for the albums that I produce.”
At least they don’t try to do covers of ‘Wonderwall’ because otherwise we’d have to step in.
Actually, a Tame Impala’d ‘Wonderwall’ may be amazing….
Tame Impala are wrapping up a huge 12 months in support of last year’s blockbuster LP ‘Currents’, finishing up at the touring Laneway Festival across Australia and New Zealand in what promises to be their last shows for quite a while.
