We haven’t heard much from Haim in a while, ever since they pulled out of this year’s Reading & Leeds festivals to work on that fresh new material – but don’t fear, it’s coming. And it’s going to be big.
Giving an update on that much talked-about follow-up to 2013’s ‘Days Are Gone’, the trio talked about the recording process and what to expect from that slammer of a new album.
Explaining it all to Entertainment Weekly, Danielle said that “we decided we were going to do what we’ve always done, We wanted to get back to our so-called roots. We needed just it be the three of us in the beginning. We just wanted to get back in the zone.”
“We write everything, we play everything, and we help produce everything. These things take time, and we refuse to put out anything we’re not 100 percent in love with.”
The new record is set to see them team up with Ariel Rechtsaid (the guy who laid his fingers on ‘Days Are Gone’ alongside recent bits from Brandon Flowers and Carly Rae Jepsen) and good ol’ Rostam Batmanglij (whose had a pretty decent year with Hamilton Leithauser if you don’t mind us saying) – so it’s pretty much banger-central over here.
As Alana says: “To get to ‘Days Are Gone’, it took us seven years. We’re super excited for the next chapter, to just tour our hearts out and really hit the ground running in 2017.”
2017 can’t come soon enough. It’s Haim-Time.
