Happy Accidents head to ‘California’ with Grimes cover

Great band covering a great artist makes a great song.

Happy Accidents released their debut album earlier this year and it was, and still is, brilliant. The band also have a whole lot of touring planned in the coming months with a bunch of our favourite bands. Doe, Muncie Girls, Woahnows, Personal Best…you get the idea.

Anyway, the band have been covering the mega-banger that is Grimes’ ‘California’ at recent live shows and, with a rare day off, they found time to head into the studio with Hookworms’ MJ and put the song to tape. Have a listen below, exclusively on Dork.

“My interpretation of the song is that it’s a reaction to success, which obviously we have no real experience with. But part of why I relate to the song so much is how it deals with how the notion of what’s considered cool can be so fickle,” explains Rich. “So much of what’s written about music in the mainstream media are often completely devoid of an emotional response, when sometimes that’s really that’s the only thing that matters. Also it’s catchy as hell – Grimes really is the best.”
