Have a sweet summer ‘Takeout’ with this sizzler from newcomers Citrus

Adrenaline-licked sugar rushes have never sounded so good

So, here’s a story. Earlier this year Dork were having a lovely time watching The Wombats at London’s Alexandra Palace, when we went to go get a drink and bumped into a chap who was in a band of his own. After chatting away, he pinged over a link to one of their tracks – and we’ve had it hooked in our heads ever since.

The band, Citrus (previously known as Grafted), are a joyous burst of summer fun – sounding undeniably classic with dazzling indie ease, and packing the sort of punch that’s destined to have thousands pogoing and screaming along up and down the country. ‘Takeout’ is their call to arms, an indie banger in waiting that wants the world to hear it, fizzing with energy and capturing youthful gleam as those vital years play out in full technicolour.

Speaking about the track, the band explained: “Just like everything we do here in Citrus, we take depressing subjects and try to make them as upbeat as possible. It’s a fun, fast paced song looking in at a toxic relationship from an outside perspective”.

Following in that rich vein of new indie bands ready to rip up the rulebook and dance in its confetti, it’s the perfect summer cocktail that announces Citrus as a band we should all be keeping an eye on.

Because we can’t wait till its out tomorrow, get ‘Takeout’ on repeat below first – you can thank us later. Long and short of it too, bumping into us at gigs can sometimes be a good thing
