Idles’ new album ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’ is coming this August

Check out brand new pro-immigration banger ‘Danny Nedelko’ before the band’s world tour kicks off this September.

Incoming! Idles have announced details of their brand new album.

Titled ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’, the band’s second full-length is due to arrive on 31st August via Partisan Records. Including last week’s two part album opener ‘Colossus’, it also features a brand new track – pro-immigration anthem ‘Danny Nedelko’. Taking it’s name from one of the band’s close friends, who’s also Ukranian, it comes alongside a self-directed video featuring Danny himself. You can check that out below.

Speaking about ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’, frontman Joe Talbot explains: “This album is an attempt to be vulnerable to our audience and to encourage vulnerability; a brave naked smile in this shitty new world. We have stripped back the songs and lyrics to our bare flesh to allow each other to breathe, to celebrate our differences, and act as an ode to communities and the individuals that forge them. Because without our community, we’d be nothing.”

There’s a full statement on the album’s inspiration and origins, which you can read here.

Idles will support the record with their first ever world tour (because they’re bloody massive pop stars now – Ed). Kicking off in Tokyo this September, it runs through to December and features headline shows in Bristol, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, Brighton and Oxford, as well as dates in North America and Europe.
