The 1975’s Matty Healy has dropped a couple of Twitter hints that the band’s next batch of new material won’t be much gossiped about new album ‘Music For Cars’ after all.
“Okay – one more EP,” the frontman Tweeted on Sunday (5th November), before going on to reference a much-used lyric that’s pretty much their catchphrase at this point: “What A Shame – The EP”.
It’s not huge surprise, of course – speaking to Dork at the end of 2016 after another batch of teaser Tweets and new material rumours, Matty revealed:
“There will be something [out in 2017] but that was me slightly pissed and being honest with myself about how impatient I am. There’s not going to be another album next year because we all know how seriously I take our albums, but I think we’ll put out a piece of music.
“I just know we’ll definitely put out a single next year or an EP which will lead up to the album which I reckon will come out early summer 2018, and it’ll be really sad but it’ll change the world ‘cause it’ll be fucking sick. There’s a quote for you.”
