It must be love, as Phoenix confirm details of new album ‘Ti Amo’

Inspired by “summer and Italian discos”, it’ll land in the world on June 9th

The Phoenix hype-mill has been going into overdrive as of late. First there was a world tour announced, then snippets of music made their way onto a new Calvin Klein advert and then there was their live return last Saturday (April 22nd). But now, we have hotcake details, with the band confirming new album ‘Ti Amo’

Lined up for release on June 9th, the record sits as the anticipated follow-up to their 2013 stormer ‘Bankrupt’ and is destined to be packed full of shimmering alt-pop wonder. Speaking to the New York Times about the record, the band delved into how the record was pulled together during a “turbulent time” back in Paris and how ‘Ti Amo’ is “incredibly colourful” – inspired by “summer and Italian discos”.

We do love an Italian disco, so we think we’re in safe hands here.

With other details on the album thin on the ground as it stands, we think it’s a pretty safe bet that tracks debuted on Saturday night at their live return in Antwerp will make the cut, including the title track itself, ‘J-Boy’ and ‘Role Model’. What’s for certain is that Phoenix will be bringing the full Italian disco party when they return to the UK in September, headlining London’s Alexandra Palace on September 30th.
