Jack White has announced that his US shows this year will be “phone-free” in order to promote a “100% human experience”.
White is releasing his new album “Boarding House Reach” this March, with a US tour and two UK shows in the pipe-line.
“No photos, video or audio recording devices allowed,” a statement on his website says.“We think you’ll enjoy looking up from your gadgets for a little while and experience music and our shared love of it IN PERSON.”
While concert-goers themselves won’t be able to capture the moment on their mobile phone, White is promising photo and video from his own social media accounts for fans to share online.
“For those looking to do some social media postings, let us help you with that. Our official tour photographer will be posting photos and videos after the show at jackwhiteiii.com and the new Jack White Live Instagram account @officialjackwhitelive. Repost our photos & videos as much as you want and enjoy a phone-free, 100% human experience.”
It isn’t clear if the ban on phones includes White’s two UK shows at London’s Apollo in June, but if you’ve bagged tickets be prepared to leave at your phone at the door on the night.
