Jack White’s Third Man Records play first record in space

Thank goodness someone has finally sorted that problem out. We can all move on with our lives.

Jack White has played the first ever record in space. Ish.

Obviously, Jack White hasn’t actually been to space – you can’t break the planet’s atmosphere in a craft purely made of vinyl and reel-to-reel tape – but his label Third Man Records have launched a “space proof” turntable called the Icarus Craft attached to a high-altitude balloon.

The player was spinning Carl Sagan’s ‘A Glorious Dawn’, a single Third Man released in 2010.

You can watch a video of the whole thing below. Mankind has truly made a giant leap.
