James Blake has been blabbing off about Frank Ocean’s much-anticipated, get-a-move-on-with-it-mate second album.
Jim (as Bon Iver has instructed us to call him when we’re mildly annoyed) refuses to give us any actual specifics, and claims not to know when the record will drop, but does say it’s rather good.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, he explains that Ocean’s music was “a huge influence on the way I was writing” latest album ‘The Colour In Anything’. He does, thankfully, give us a bit more too.
“I was more of a fan of him when I heard his newer music,” Blake explained. “It’s better. You grow, you improve, you nail a new message to the board. He’s had time to mature. It’s really cool to watch.”
So either Frank has been organising his office space and making cheese, or the follow up to ‘Channel Orange’ is ‘better’ and more ‘mature’. Probably the latter.
And still we don’t know when it’s coming. Sigh. [sc name=”stopper” ]
