James Lavelle from UNKLE reveals info about new music on a Beats 1 special takeover show tonight with Frank Carter

James Lavelle has finished the new UNKLE album, apparently. Or so he’s told Frank Carter, anyway.

James Lavelle has finished the new UNKLE album, apparently. Or so he’s told Frank Carter, anyway.

Standing in for Julie Adenuga on Beats 1 tonight (Monday 27th March), Lavelle explains that the album is only just done.

“It’s been a bit of a hiatus with records,” he says. “It’s funny, just coming in today, I just finished my record, putting everything together this weekend so the record’s been done for a little while. Not very long, but the end of last year.”

In the interview, he also reveals the record features guests including Keaton Henson and pretty much all of Queens of the Stone Age other than Josh Homme (“motherf****r – but I did get to use his studios so I do thank him for that”).

You can check out a clip from the show below.

The two-hour show will air from 8pm BST tonight. Recorded at legendary tattoo studio Sang Bleu, it also features Will Ritson from Formation and Frank tattooing his Rattlesnakes bandmate Dean Richardson. We’re not sure how tattooing works on the radio, but hey, we can all find out together, right?

You can also find our interview with Frank on the cover of issue one of the Dork Festival Guide 2017, on the streets now.
