Kendrick Lamar scores second US number one in a year

‘untitled unmastered.’ hits the top spot with 178,000 ‘equivalent units’ shifted.

Kendrick Lamar has notched up his second US number one record in a calendar year.

Recent surprise release ‘untitled unmastered.’ beat out Adele, Rihanna, 2 Chainz and Justin Bieber’ to take the top spot in the Billboard 200 chart.

Released on March 3rd, it sold 178,000 ‘equivalent units’ over the week, including 142,000 pure album sales. It follows ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’, which hit the top spot in March of last year.

Kendrick now joins Drake and Future as the only three artists to put out multiple number one albums since the beginning of 2015.
