KOYO are back with a new video for ‘Lost In The Kingdom’

“It’s about being lost and found,” explains vocalist Huw Edwards.

Leeds-based KOYO are today dropping their new video for ‘Lost in the Kingdom’ – check it out below, first on Dork.

The latest cut from their upcoming debut album, the video sees the group finding their way through confusing and mysterious woods and countryside.

“’Lost in the Kingdom’ was the last song we wrote for the album,” explains vocalist Huw Edwards. “We challenged ourselves to write something more simplistic. We realised the album was full of long, dark and twisted epics and we were inspired to write something that resolved a little quicker both structurally and conceptually. Something that didn’t take 8 minutes to get its point across! We were listening to Graceland and Vulfpeck and generally appreciating a lot of 80s type sounds, and I think you can hear that, especially in the Roto-Toms at the end…

“Lyrically, it’s about being lost and found. I was coming to the end of a season in my life and feeling pretty exhausted. It’s about that moment where something or someone comes along and changes all that, giving you a fresh perspective. That’s the concept for the video as well. There’s a feeling of disorientation leading up to a moment of revelation and victory at the last chorus.”

‘Lost in the Kingdom’ is out on 9th June, followed but their as-yet-unannounced album in August. Catch them live at Manchester’s Castle Hotel and London’s Birthdays this June:
