Lea Porcelain cover Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Streets of Philadelphia’

The track was a Christmas gift for family – and now everyone can hear it.

We know what you’re thinking – what this Wednesday afternoon really needs is a Bruce Springsteen cover, right? Well, it’s Lea Porcelain to the rescue with their take on ‘Streets of Philadelphia’.

The London-via-Berlin duo, who’ve not long released latest single ‘Bones’, recorded the track as a Christmas gift for their family, having done a rubbish job of present shopping.

“During the last recording-sessions for the album, we went for weeks on end sleeping through days and working through nights in the Funkhaus,” they recall. “We hardly saw any family during that time and Christmas was fast approaching and we had no presents to give.

“We remembered that for some reason we would always blast this song through our stereo at home and it was kind of a homecoming song during our recording period. One day before we drove down to the family for Christmas, we spent a night covering this song and in various versions, this is the version that we came up with that sounds fully like us and we would give this song to everyone of our family and friends to listen to and to thank them for their support, their understanding and their love.”

Lea Porcelain have a handful of live dates coming up this month, including: Darmstadt, Germany – das Blumen (24th March); Paris, France – Supersonic (27th); London, UK – Electrowerkz (29th); and Berlin, Germany – INTRO 25 Year Anniversary Party (1st April).
