Leo Stannard premieres heartfelt new single, ‘Oceans’

The track lands properly tomorrow, via Black Butter Records.

21-year-old multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Leo Stannard is premiering his new single ‘Oceans’ before it officially drops tomorrow (Friday 4th November) – check it out below, first on Dork.

A lesson in smart, atmospheric pop, it’s a textured gem that plays its cards close to its chest, but cuts through at every turn. With moments like this, our Leo is aiming for giddy heights.

“‘Oceans’ is about the regret of letting something go and being guilty of always looking for the next thing whilst not treasuring what you have at that moment,” Leo explains. “Sometimes what you already have is the best thing and nothing will be better, but that can be really difficult to see. ‘Searching oceans for something better, had it all but I didn’t know’.”

The single follows a lengthy UK headline tour, and a year full of support slots with the likes of Rudimental and Nina Nesbitt, and festival sets including Secret Garden Party. He’s currently working on his debut album with producers Fred Ball (Rihanna, Madonna) and Rich Cooper (Mystery Jets, David Byrne), due next year – watch this space.
