Liam Gallagher debuted a bunch of new songs and some Oasis classics at his first solo show last night

Liam Gallagher took to the stage for his first solo gig last night in Manchester.

Playing the O2 Ritz, all proceeds from the show were donated to victims of the Manchester terror attacks last week, with the show taking on double meaning. Not only was it the first time fans would get to hear new material from the Oasis frontman, but with 22 candles to represent the 22 victims placed on stage, it also played a part in Manchester’s response to what happened.

With the crowd chanting ‘Stand up for the 22!’, Liam offered up a mix of new and old, opening with two Oasis classics, ‘Rock ’n’ Roll Star’ and ‘Morning Glory’. Across the set he debuted eight new tracks, and was joined by former Oasis guitarist Bonehead for ‘Be Here Now’. The encore featured an a capella singalong to ‘Live Forever’.

Liam’s first solo single, ‘Wall of Glass’, is set to debut later today – gaining a first spin by MisterJam on his BBC Radio 1 show this evening (31st May). His debut solo album, ‘As You Were’, is set for release later this year. Gallagher continues his short run of live shows with a date at Brixton Electric in London tomorrow (1st June).
