Cassels are a punk band. You can tell because they make punk music.
They’re a two-piece who don’t sound like Slaves or Royal Blood and they’re brothers, but they don’t sound like Haim or The Cribs. They do sound very good though.
They’ve made a name for themselves writing spindly, socially-charged music and now they’re set to release their debut album. It’s called ‘Epithet‘, it’s out October 6th via Big Scary Monsters (preorder here) and today they’ve shared the first two songs from it. You can listen to ‘Coup‘, the record’s opening track and a song about youth disenfranchisement, below.
“It’s a song about not being engaged and understandably so. There’s not much to engage with,” explains the band’s Jim Beck. If you want more, our mates at Upset are sharing the second track ‘Let’. Think of it as a sequel but not as rubbo.
The band also have a couple of album release shows to celebrate the release of the album. They’ll be playing London (obviously) and Oxford. Details via the fancy poster below.
