Lorde has annotated her latest new track ‘Perfect Places’ on Genius, revealing it, in part, is about her feelings on the deaths of David Bowie and Prince.
She explains line “All our heroes fading” concerns the deaths of the two music legends. “I felt the loss of Prince and DB hard last year. A massive light went out,” she writes.
The song is also about a hot New York summer.
“It sort of drove me insane,” she said about the temperature which was being reported on positively in the papers, hence the line, “I hate the headlines and the weather.”
“I was walking around Midtown every day and felt like I was this close to ripping my clothes off or freaking out at a stranger.”
