Manchester Orchestra preview new album with ‘The Moth’

‘A Black Mile To The Surface’ is due later this month.

Manchester Orchestra has shared a new song from their upcoming album.

‘The Moth’ features on upcoming record ‘A Black Mile To The Surface’, due for release on 28th July via Loma Vista Recordings.

“We’re a band that loves to use heavy, crunchy guitars,” frontman Andy Hull says of the band’s new music. “We wondered how we could limit the use of that, so that when the guitars come in they can be creative and impactful.

“For Swiss Army Man [a film the band scored] we had to make seventy minutes of music with our hands tied behind our backs. When you’re creating all the sounds you need just from the human voice, it allows you to rethink what is possible, and determine what is really needed.

“We wanted to make an album in a ‘non-Manchester’ way if there is such a thing.”

The band are touring the UK just after the release, with a run that kicks off on 21st October and includes a night at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
